How to split a PDF
Open your PDF
Choose the document you want to divide. Every page appears as a thumbnail.
Choose a split mode
Type ranges such as 1-4, 5-9, pick a fixed number of pages per file, or split every page.
Check the preview
Coloured labels under each thumbnail show which new file the page will end up in.
Download
One output downloads as a PDF; several are bundled into a single ZIP file.
Key features
Three ways to split
Custom ranges for chapters or sections, fixed-size chunks for uploading to portals with page limits, or one file per page.
Ranges can overlap or reorder
A range like 5-1 produces pages in reverse order, and a page can appear in more than one output file if you need it to.
Sensible file names
Each file is named after the original with its page numbers, such as report-pages-1-4.pdf, with zero-padded numbers in longer documents so they sort correctly.
Nothing is recompressed
Pages are copied exactly, so text stays selectable and images keep their full quality.
Split or extract?
Splitting always produces several files. If you just want a handful of pages pulled out into one new PDF, Extract Pages is quicker. To throw away pages you don’t need and keep the rest as one document, use Delete Pages.
A common use for fixed-size splitting is an online form that only accepts files under a certain number of pages or megabytes. If the limit is on file size, try Compress PDF first; you may not need to split at all.
Security and privacy
Split PDF runs entirely in your browser. Your file is processed in this tab’s memory and never uploaded to PDF365 or anyone else. When you close the tab or press “Start over”, the data is discarded.

Questions about Split PDF
How do I write page ranges?
Separate ranges with commas. Use a hyphen for a run of pages, like 1-5, and leave the end off to mean “to the last page”, like 10-. Each comma-separated item becomes one file.
Can I split a PDF into single pages?
Yes. Choose Every page and you’ll get one PDF per page in a ZIP file.
Do the split files keep bookmarks and form fields?
Each new file contains the pages’ text, images, links and comments. Bookmarks and interactive form fields are not carried across, because they usually refer to pages that are now in a different file.
How do I open a ZIP file?
On Windows and macOS, double-click it to see the files inside. On iPhone, tap it in the Files app. On Android, most file manager apps can extract ZIP files.
